Kevin Barnett

Marvin Bell

Marvin Bell was born in Elkton, Kentucky, but attended college in Texas and obeyed the gospel at Southwestern Christian College. In 1992, he moved to Houston and worshipped at the Fifth Ward church for ten years where he was active in the singles ministry. At a singles retreat in Nashville, TN, he met his wife Sanée, and they married in December 2003. They have been blessed with two children, Richmond and Paige. Marvin currently teaches sixth-grade science in Katy ISD. The Bells reside in Cypress. They placed their membership at JV in January 2004. Marvin is active in the prison ministry and local evangelism.
Shawn Biggers

Shawn currently serves as the deacon of Jersey Village’s youth ministry. In 1996, he married his college girlfriend, Christi, and they have been blessed with one son, Mason. Shawn and his family are originally from Dallas where he served as a deacon in their former congregation. The Biggers came to JV in 2006, and Shawn began working with the Young Marrieds group. He previously served as a deacon in that capacity from 2007-2009. Shawn works for Pump Company; in his spare time, you can usually find him behind a camera lens or attending one of his son’s many sporting events.
Brian Bishop

Brian grew up in Conroe, Texas in a large family of twelve. He attended the Conroe Church of Christ and was baptized in 1976. He presently works for Marathon Oil as a computer geoscientist and is married to the former Gloria Dela Cruz of Bacan, Banga, Philippines. They have three beautiful kids: Justin, Courtney, and Brandon. Brian has served as a deacon at JV since 2001. He coordinates support of mission works in Ghana, India, and the Philippines, including administration and finance, communicating with the missionaries, and meeting their needs when they visit the U.S on furlough.
Scott Chitwood

Tim Deines

Tim Deines was born in Berthoud, Colorado and grew up on a farm raising cattle. He attended Colorado School of Mines and received his degree in engineering. He began work for Marathon Oil Company in Wyoming following college, and is currently a manager for the company. Tim and his wife, Laura, were married in 1989, and they have three sons: Trevor, Cade, and Braden. His area of responsibility is the LifeTeams small-group ministry, co-led with Philip Franklin. LifeTeams provide our members an opportunity to build relationships, offer support through prayer and Bible study, and welcome visitors to JV.
Darrell Fannin

Darrell Fannin has been a member of JV for almost 19 years. He has a multi-talented wife, Beverly, who is very involved in teaching Bible classes and coordinating puppets for LTC. Darrel and Beverly are proud parents of three grown children, and proud grandparents of two grandsons whom they love dearly. Darrell has formerly worked in the Children’s Bible Hour ministry, and the Communion Preparation/Baptismal supplies ministry while here at JV. He presently works in the Finance ministry. Darrell counts it a blessing to be able to serve such a warm, loving church family as Jersey Village.
Jay Fraley

Jay Fraley grew up in Madison County, Texas. He attended Texas A&M University where he met his lovely wife, Valerie. They were married at Jersey Village and have served this church since that time. That have three children: two daughters named Madeline and Audrey, and one son named Levi. Since becoming a member at Jersey Village, Jay has served as a Bible class teacher, song leader, and performed other miscellaneous duties. He currently coordinates the Children’s Bible Hour program.
Bill Gordon

Bill Gordon and his wife Carole were married in 1966. After Bill served in U.S. Air Force for several years, they became members at Jersey Village. Bill is currently retired from the corporate world and owning/operating a residential appraisal business. Since becoming a member, he has been involved in various ministries including Bible classes, bus ministry, visitation, benevolence, and worship coordination. His current ministry responsibilities include pictorial directory updates and new member photographs. He is also responsible for the visitation program and coordinating bi-annual Blood Drives.
Steve Hoza

Steve and his wife, Susan, first met in the JV youth group, but did not start dating until after college. They ran into each other in a work setting one day and have been together ever since! God has blessed them with two beautiful kids: Krystin and Luke. Both Steve and Susan are dedicated workers at JV; Susan is a Bible class teacher, and Steve has been a deacon since 2005, presently serving in the administration and finance ministry. He reconciles monthly bank statements, prepares a monthly financial and budget-comparison statement, and performs various church payroll duties.
Jeff Maxey

Jeff was born in El Paso, Texas and adopted by his mom and dad at six weeks old. Jeff has a great love for passages such as Ephesians 1 where Scripture speaks of being adopted. In December 1998, he married Natalie Crider in the same church where they met—Jersey Village! In 2006, another love of his life came along—their daughter, Camden. Jeff serves Jersey Village in the area of worship. No matter what one’s interests in the church, one thing we have in common is that we all have been called to worship. One of Jeff’s favorite passages is “sing, sing from your hearts” in Colossians.
Jim Mahood

Jim Mahood and his family have been members at Jersey Village since 1994. Jim grew up in the Lutheran church, but studied the gospel and was baptized into Christ in 1978. Since then, he has been active as a song leader (in the Nacogdoches church), in Mexico mission work, and as a Bible class teacher. He has served as a deacon at JV since 2007 in various capacities. Jim considers the church, under the guidance of eldership and God’s holy Word, to be the best place to raise his family—the only true beacon in navigating the turbulent waters of life.
Brian McDonald

Brian is the deacon of our Elementary Education ministry at Jersey Village. Brian married his beautiful wife, Kim, in 1991. Since then, they have been blessed with three wonderful children: Matthew, Savannah, and Mark. The McDonald’s came to JV in 2003, and Brian began his work with Elementary Education in 2007. His ministry teaches Bible-based and interactive lessons, memorization, scripture reading, and other activities to JV’s Cradle Roll through 5th Grade classes. The goal of his ministry is for our children to learn God’s word, put His armor on, and apply it to daily life while walking in His light.
Glen Motl

Glen was not raised in the churches of Christ, but in 1992, he was “taught more accurately” and was baptized. He has been a member at Jersey Village since that time. He has served the congregation as a deacon since 2003, overseeing at times the physical facilities, elementary education, and children’s homes. He currently oversees the children’s homes ministry and assists in the physical facility ministry. He taught the 1st Grade Bible class for eight years, and currently teaches the 5th Grade class. He married his wife, Renee, in 1992 and they have two children, Tiffany and Brandon.
David Sutton

Tommy Thomas

Tommy and his wife Teresa were childhood sweethearts and married in 1977. They have two adult daughters, a son-in-law, and the best grandson in the world. Tommy was baptized in 1989 in Shawnee Oklahoma at the East Main church. Tommy has worked for DCP Midstream, or one of its predecessor companies, since 1984 where he specializes in Geographical Information Systems. He was honored to serve as a deacon at the Johnson Park church in Borger, Texas prior to moving to Houston. The Thomas’ have been members of the Jersey Village Church of Christ since 2000 and have loved to be a part of its growth.
Mike Walker

Mike was born and raised in Havre de Grace, Maryland. He attended the University of Oklahoma where he obtained his degree in Chemical Engineering while playing trombone for the Pride of Oklahoma Marching Band. He has been married to his wife, Kim, since 1989 and they have two children, David and Joy. Mike has worked for Chevron for over thirty years and been a deacon at Jersey Village since 2005. He currently helps new members feel welcome and become involved in the work at JV. His focus is on new members’ luncheons, Get Acquainted Dinners, and an annual ministry fair.
